FAQs
Do I have to share my ratings before getting to see someone else's and vice versa?
Yes and No. If you utilize the MeetUp feature and send the verification code, each user receives the most-current Safety Rating of the other user, so that the user will #KnowB4YouGo. Once each user views both the other user’s most current Safety Rating and Rates Given History chart, then each user will confirm the MeetUp is still on, and upon mutual confirmation, the app will lock in the invite to rate.
When a user utilizes their LockBox feature, to share their ratings, the user then has the option of which of the three ratings to share, so in this instance, the answer would be no. The owner of the Lockbox displays their ratings but at this point does not get to see the other user’s ratings.
How do I use the LockBox feature?
The LockBox feature is designed to allow a ChkM8 user to promote their ratings on their social media profiles. When a user provides their Lockbox code on, “use this code to see who I am”, that code then provides 1-time access to the owner’s ChkM8 ratings; whichever ratings that the user choses to display. Any ChkM8 user can access a LockBox when a code is provided. The Static LockBox option provides the user the option to list the static code on their social media profile as a way of letting other ChkM8 users view their ratings without another user having to ask. Think of the static option as your Billboard that let’s others know why they should view your profile.
How do I remove "pending" from my ratings?
The ChkM8 system is programmed to require at least three ratings before dropping the verbiage “pending”. At least 3 ratings are required before the ChkM8 algorithm allows a calculation of a composite score. This required 3 ratings ensures the user’s anonymity when rating another user. Using the Friends Rating Friends feature allows each ChkM8 user to quickly reach out to someone in your contact list to ask them to rate your past MeetUp…“Remember that Coffee we had last week?”.
How are the rating scores determined?
When determining a composite rating for a user, ChkM8 uses only ratings provided to the system by other ChkM8 users who have had a MeetUp with the user. Rating calculations consider various factors such as the overall ratings provided, the user’s rating history, and the frequency/pattern of similar ratings to include repeated ratings from the same user. As well as the time frame when the ratings were entered, as Scheduled ratings count more than a Rate Now rating. All ratings remain in the user’s account as long as the account exists. Composite scoring is not an average; algorithms are complex, but ChkM8’s ultimate priority is to maintain the anonymity of its users and the anonymity of what the users’ rated others. The algorithm also takes into account what we call Revenge Rating (RR); someone who rates safety based on other than qualities/actions that were not about Safety. The algorithms are consistently reviewing patterns of ratings, and when an established user pattern is discovered to provide low ratings improperly, past ratings will then adjust the safety ratings to reflect proper safety ratings.
How do I know the ratings I submit remain anonymous?
ChkM8 only requires your cell phone number and your gender for registration. Nothing is tied to your name. We know you’re a real person through your valid phone number and that number is what identifies your account. Identifying your Gender allows us to filter safety ratings for you. What did other women rate that man you’re getting coffee with? How did his male friends rate him? The Gender and cell number are only utilized for features within the app to give you a better user experience.
The app provides a window of time before sending the rating screens after your MeetUp is completed; however, there is an option for rate now, for users that wish to do so immediately. The choice to delay enables you to have more privacy for rating. Any user’s rating scores are based only on a composite score, so a user’s score cannot be directly attributed to your specific rating. Our terms and services/privacy policy detail how ChkM8 does not release any of its user’s information unless demanded by a legal court order. The algorithm is set so that should any score reflect a sudden change to the composite rating, then the algorithm will hold and blend your rating with several to prevent a user from knowing how one score affected any changes to their overall ratings.
Can any ChkM8 user rate me?
No, a user can only rate another user when an invitation to rate has been sent and responded to with an agreement to MeetUp. Schedule the Rating option carries more weight than the Rate Now option, so when you feel that you can trust another to be completely honest, then a Schedule Rating is most effective to you overall composite scoring. Using the LockBox feature allows users to share their Integrity and Likeability ratings if they so choose. ChkM8 users decide who sees their ratings and who rates them. Choose wisely.
What if someone rated me unsafe and I disagree with that rating?
The ratings are composite, so it is very difficult, if not impossible, to determine where any rating originated. When a user extends or accepts an invitation to MeetUp, both users should understand the consequence of allowing their rating scores to be affected. The acceptance of “consequence” is what keeps both users safe from unacceptable behavior. ChkM8 is a Reputation Management system and in order to ensure privacy and anonymity, the ratings must be kept indistinguishable using algorithms designed for the specific reason of anonymity. There is no ability to distinguish what ratings are being given by any individual user.
Can someone leave feedback when rating?
Yes and No. ChkM8 was built on the foundation of safety and anonymity, so to protect that, we do not allow anyone to add comments, send messages, or leave written reviews with date ratings. ChkM8 does however offer optional Reasons for the Rate feature to help users provide more information whether it is a 5 star, or a less ideal rating.
