ChkM8 does not sell, rent, or share user data for advertising or marketing purposes.

We do not build ad profiles.

We do not monetize user data.

Your information exists only to operate and protect the integrity of the platform.

ChkM8, Inc. (“ChkM8,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through this Privacy Policy.

This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the ChkM8 mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

By accessing or using ChkM8, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide

We may collect the following information when you register or use the Services: 

    • Phone number (used for account verification and platform integrity)
    • Ratings given and received
    • Limited profile information you choose to provide
    • Communications sent through the app                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      ChkM8 does not require real names, public profiles, or identifying information beyond what is necessary to operate the platform.

B. Automatically Collected Information

We automatically collect certain technical information, including:

 

    • Device identifiers (used to enforce account integrity policies)

    • Operating system and app version

    • Usage activity within the app

    • IP address (for security and abuse prevention)

We do not sell personal data.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

     

      • Operate and maintain the ChkM8 platform

      • Generate composite and anonymized ratings

      • Prevent abuse, manipulation, or circumvention of ratings

      • Enforce Terms & Conditions

      • Improve app functionality and user experience

      • Comply with legal obligations

    Ratings are aggregated and anonymized where possible and are not intended to identify specific individuals beyond their use within the platform.

    3. Anonymity and Ratings

    ChkM8 is designed to preserve user anonymity:

     

      • Individual ratings are not disclosed to other users

      • ChkM8 does not publish, distribute, or promote individual ratings. Only composite or algorithmically weighted scores are generated by the platform and may be voluntarily disclosed by users to third parties at their sole discretion.

      • ChkM8 does not verify or certify user behavior

    Ratings reflect user-submitted experiences and opinions and do not constitute guarantees of safety, conduct, or behavior.

    4. Group Programs & “Safe” Designations

    Some organizations may participate in group-based programs (e.g., Greek Safety Program).

    Any designation such as “Safe House”:

     

      • Is derived solely from aggregate ratings

      • Is informational in nature

      • Is not an endorsement, certification, or guarantee by ChkM8

      • Does not alter individual responsibility for conduct

    5. Data Retention and Deletion

    A. Account Closure Without Deletion

    Users may close their account without deleting their data.
    If the user later rejoins, prior ratings and data may be restored.

    B. Account Deletion

    Users may request deletion of their account and associated data.
    This action is permanent and irreversible.

    C. Device-Based Restrictions

    To protect platform integrity:

     

      • If a user deletes their account and data, ChkM8 may restrict the ability to create a new account using the same device.

      • This measure is intended to prevent misuse, including evasion of ratings.

      • These measures are applied in a proportionate manner and are not used for advertising or cross-service tracking

    If a device is sold or transferred, the restriction may still apply.

    6. Legal Bases and User Rights

    Depending on your state of residence, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data as defined below.

    Definition of Personal Data

    For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “Personal Data” refers only to information collected and maintained directly by ChkM8, which may include:

     

      • Phone number

      • Device identifiers

      • Account metadata

      • Ratings given and received

      • Limited profile information voluntarily provided by the user

    ChkM8 does not collect, store, or process payment information. Any payment-related data is collected and processed by third-party payment processors (such as Stripe) and is governed by their respective privacy policies and obligations. ChkM8 is not responsible for the data practices of third-party providers.

    Your Rights

    Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to: 

      • Request access to Personal Data maintained by ChkM8

      • Request deletion of Personal Data maintained by ChkM8, subject to the limitations described in this Privacy Policy and the Terms & Conditions

    ChkM8 does not support selective removal, modification, or opt-out of specific ratings, scores, or platform-generated data where such removal would impair system integrity, abuse prevention, or platform functionality.

    7. Data Security

    ChkM8 implements reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information.
    However, no system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

    Use of the Services is at your own risk.

    8. Third-Party Services

    We may use third-party providers for: 

      • Hosting

      • Analytics

      • Messaging services

    These providers are contractually required to safeguard data and use it only for authorized purposes.

    9. Children’s Privacy

    ChkM8 is not intended for users under 18.
    We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

    10. Changes to This Policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
    Updates will be posted on our website and/or app.

    Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

    11.  SMS Consent and Data:

    No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
